The Value of Community

Group_in_Circle.gifThe Value of Community

A dying father called his sons to him and decided to impart one final lesson before departing this world.

When his sons arrived at his bedside, he handed them a bundle of young bamboo shoots and instructed them to break them. The young, strong boys eagerly began the task, but despite their considerable efforts, none of them succeeded in breaking the bundle.

Observing their struggle, the father requested it, untied the bundle and despite his old age and sickness, he effortlessly snapped each shoot individually. Turning to his sons, he uttered these words:

"When you are united, you will be as strong as a bundle of bamboo shoots, impervious to adversity. However, when you stand individually, you become easy prey to any failure and difficulty."

In today's Me Culture, where individual autonomy is valued, it is crucial to remember the significance of a strong community. Just like the story of the father and his sons, a united community is capable of achieving remarkable feats, offering support in times of adversity and surpassing the abilities of individuals. By fostering strong communities, we not only cultivate exceptional individuals but also create a network of support that can withstand even the toughest challenges.
